THREE TYPES OF RETAINERS:
Removable:
- Advantages: Can’t see them and only wear at night.
- Disadvantages: Often patient forgets to wear them and the teeth move
Permanent:
- Advantages: Are permanently on the back of the teeth so the teeth won’t move.
- Disadvantages: Cost a little more then removable.
Hawleys:
- Advantages: Helpful for getting good bite. Allow small adjustments.
- Disadvantages: Most expensive and most noticeable.
